Meds and Depression

Posted by [email protected] on January 2, 2014 at 8:25 PM Comments comments (0)

As many as you know, I have bipolar disorder. I was first put on Abilfy, but it made me manic as hell. Then my doctor put me on Lamictal 25mg. After a month of that I am up to 50mg. I can't really tell whether or not it is working, mostly because I have sunk pretty hard into a depression. The past week has been pretty awful, I came very close to committing myself. The deep dark hole you find yourself in is not easyt to climb out of. I have noticed an increase in delf medication..aka drinking. I have decided to actually seek help from a psychiatrist. I feel like I need to talk to someone and not just take meds. Meds can only do so much, especially when you have a lot on your mind. Either way, I have noticed I have not been manic in a while, slightly hypomanic, but no full blown mania. I suppose that could be seen as an improvement. I am hoping as I talk to someone and increase my meds things get a little better. Anyone with this disorder knows mania is a lot more fun than these depressions, but I at least moved from the couch and did some things today. It is all baby steps. Hope you all have had a great day and wonderful holidays. Stay sane! :)

Christmas 2013

Sorry I have been away...holidays ya know :)

Anyway. Christmas 2013 was a HIT!. Christmas eve was spent with the inlaws. We exchanged gifts, had a great dinner, drank wine and just hung out. It was a lot of fun. Christmas morning was AWESOME. Gabriel was so excited to get all of his gifts from Santa, and like we thought, the Nabi 2 was the favorite. He couldn't wait to beat the crap out of that cat from the My Tom app. Emilia actually responded well to all of the gifts, even though she has a cold :(. After we opened presents we hung out, ate, and watched Gabe's new movie "We're Back" *I loved it when I was little*.

THEN! I realized I didn't make a dessert for dinner at my moms...uh oh. With no stores open I worked with what I had and made 2 pies from scratch...yeah. Blueberry and Apple. They were actually pretty good for being thrown together last minute. We then went over to my moms house, where my sister and her boyfriend Alex were too. This was the first Christmas in a long time that we were all together. Mom did a great job on dinner too. We had Prime rib, baked sliced potatoes, salad and deviled eggs. Did I mention my sister made the most kick ass cheese ball of all time too? Yeah...ham roll up cheese ball. HOLY SHIT! I am sure I ate half of that thing. It was AMAZING. All in all, it was a really great time and I didn't really have any issues with my bipolar either. I mean, Christmas eve I was pretty manic...but I wasn't quite sure if that was normal stress or not. Either way...I was freaking out and couldn't sit down. Good thing my MIL sat me down with some wine :)

So...I hope your holidays were as amazing as ours. Here are some of the photos from the day :) Thanks for reading.

Things bipolar people are sick of hearing

Posted by [email protected] on December 17, 2013 at 11:55 AM Comments comments (0)

So I decided to do another video today. I have talked to many of my fellow mental illness sufferers and half of the problem is lacking in acceptance and understanding from others. People seem to think we are lazy or could snap right out of a manic or depressive episode. That is just untrue. So, here is the video I uploaded to help others know we are not alone and I have heard it all before. Enjoy!

Me as Catherine Zeta Jones

So I got froggy and did it again...this time Catherine Zeta Jones. Frankly, it seems similar to my Jennifer Lawrence but they have similar facial structure...So I will forgive myself. Hope you like it.

Me as Jennifer Lawrence

So I was feeling a bit down yesterday and decided to do some more makeup therepy....who's next...yeah Jennifer Lawrence. I love her movies and she is such a unique looking person. It took a hell of a lot of contouring to acheive that high cheek bone look and well...her eyes are what make her who she is. It was tough to mimic that hooded eye shape. I feel like I did a decent job. I plan to update my makeup collection soon, as most of my makeup is worn out and from the drug store. I really love doing this and hopefully over time I get better. Well, anyway, here it is. Stay tuned for more!

LMAO

Omg. SO I got bored today and decided to break out my makeup and do a transformation...a female to male transformation! Yes...I made myself a dude. It was actually a lot of fun. I have bee considering making a makeup channel, so I figured I would put that out their and let my viewers make the choice on whether it would be worth watching. So here it is. If you are interested in a video on how I did this look or any other makeup tutorials let me know :)

Rocking around the Christmas Tree

Posted by [email protected] on December 3, 2013 at 7:15 AM Comments comments (0)

We had such a wonderful day yesterday. Once Joe got home from work we all got into the Christmas spirit and decorated the house. This year is the first year Gabriel truly understands what Christmas and Santa are, and he was thrilled.

There is something magical about that moment when you pull out your decorations and put up the tree, but it is a different feeling when you are a parent. When you are a child, you are excited because you know "WOW, Santa is going to come and give me a load of presents" but when you are a parent, your true excitement comes from the energy spewing from your kids. I have always been a festive person...Joe....not so much. Yet, this year, I was amazed at how excited he was to decorate and show Gabriel how to decorate the tree.

After we decorated the main room, Joe went into the kitchen to draw on our cabinets. Last year, when we remodeled the house, we had the idea to put chalkboard paint on the kitchen cabinets so we could decorate them for holidays, seasons, special events, etc...and so far it has been a huge hit. Joe, being an artist, just loves being able to play around with it too. Anyway, I plan to do some more videos today, especially after the crappy night last night with my LIVE software. I hope you keep on reading and watching our videos and stay tuned for more.

Thanksgiving 2013!

Posted by [email protected] on November 29, 2013 at 9:00 AM Comments comments (0)

What a great day!

Thanksgiving was such a blast this year, a lot of work, but a blast. The only downside was my Mom was sick and couldn't come, but she at least sent over some food to help. We had my famous turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, homemade cranberry sauce, stuffing, yams, rolls and I made paczkis! For anyone who doesn't know what those are...yanno those jelly donuts everyone eats on Fat Tuesday? Yeah, those. They are a family recipe, Polish jelly donuts. And oh my did they turn out SOO good.

Gabe had a ball playing with his uncle Keaton and Emi slept for most of the day (I think she was mocking what I wanted to do). Oh, and, since we celebrate Hannukah as well....Gabe got his first present yesterday....a Staffordshire bull terrier named Sully (yes like from Monsters Inc.) What a good dog he is too. Most people get leery of bringing "Pit Bulls" into their family, but I have to say, he is the best dog I have ever seen. Staffies deserve every bit of the name "nanny dog" as he is so attentive to the children and gets so upset when Emilia cries.

Anywho, I wanted a bunch of video and pictures of the festivities, but since I was in the kitchen for 12 hours I left that to Joe. SO! Naturally there is like, no photos at all. I will send you off with a few that I snapped of Em and Gabe and my paczkis. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for new videos and blog posts
